PRIVACY STATEMENT

The Academy for Mindful Teaching attaches great importance to the protection of personal data. This statement contains clear and transparent information on how we handle it.

1. Personal data

We do everything we can to ensure privacy and handle your personal data with care. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation, so we

  • Use your data only for the purpose for which it was provided. This statement lists the items we use, and the purposes for which we use them
  • Process only the data necessary for the purpose for it is used
  • Ask for your explicit consent to process your data if required
  • Take appropriate measures to ensure its security
  • Refrain from sharing it with third parties, unless this is necessary given the purpose for which it has been provided
  • Respect your rights regarding your data, and inform you about them

The Academy of Mindful Teaching is responsible for processing your personal data. If you have any questions after reading this statement, our contact details are at the end.

1.1 Processing of personal data

We process customers’ and suppliers’ data for the following purposes:

  • Administration
  • Communication about assignments and invitations
  • Issuing and carrying out assignments
  • Holding courses and post-academic days

We obtain the data from the agreed assignment, and from your intake form.

For the above purposes, we may request the following data from you:

  • Title
  • Full name
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Education
  • Profession
  • Where you work

We will store your data and process it as described above during the term of the agreement or for as long as you remain a certified trainer. After this we will store it for up to seven years, purely for financial administration purposes.

1.2 Processing of newsletter subscribers’ personal data

We use this data to keep subscribers informed of our activities and obtain it when they register online for the newsletter.

For this purpose, we may request the following data:

  • Title
  • Full name
  • Email address

    We will store your information and use it for the above purpose for as long as you remain registered.

     

    1.3 Verstrekking aan derden

    We may disclose the information to third parties if this is necessary for the purposes described above.

    For example, we use third parties to

    • Administer our financial and other affairs
    • Organise courses and post-academic days
    • Store administrative data

    We never transfer personal data to other parties except under a processing agreement, in which case we make the necessary arrangements to keep it secure. We will not pass it on to any other parties unless this is required or permitted by law, for example if we have to provide it to the police in connection with an investigation. We may also share personal data with third parties if you give us written permission to do so.

     

    1.4 Cookies and similar technology

    We use technical and functional cookies on this website. And analytical cookies that do not infringe your privacy. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you first visit this website. The cookies we use are necessary for the technical operation of the website and your ease of use. They ensure that the website works properly and, for example, remember your preferred settings. We can also optimize our website with this. You can opt out of cookies by setting your internet browser so that it no longer stores cookies. In addition, you can also delete all information previously saved via your browser settings.

    A cookie from the American company Google is placed via our website as part of the “Analytics” service. We use this service to keep track of and receive reports on how visitors use the website. Google can provide this information to third parties if Google is legally obliged to do so, or if third parties process the information on behalf of Google. We have no influence on this. We have not allowed Google to use the obtained Analytics information for other Google services. The information that Google collects is anonymized as much as possible.

    Our site includes buttons to promote (‘like’) web pages or share them on social networks such as Facebook and Instagram. These use pieces of code originating from Facebook and Instagram respectively, which are used to place cookies. We have no influence over this. Please read their privacy statements, which may change regularly, to find out what they do with the data that they process via these cookies.

    The information these providers collect is anonymised as much as possible. It is transferred to and stored by Twitter, Facebook, Google and LinkedIn on servers in the United States.

    The purpose of collecting data about our newsletter recipients is to gain an insight into their reading and clicking behaviour. It tells us who opens the newsletter, how often and when, and what links they click on. As a result, the download time and content of the newsletter can be tailored to their wishes. We have signed a data processing agreement with Mailchimp for this purpose, but the data will not be shared with other parties, and the processing is subject to user consent.

    1.5 Storage period

    We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was provided or is required by law.

    1.6 Security

    We have taken appropriate measures to protect your personal data against unlawful use, such as the following;

    • Anyone who accesses it on our behalf is subject to a confidentiality agreement
    • We maintain a username and password policy on all our systems
    • We pseudonymise and encrypt personal data if necessary
    • We make backups so that we can recover it in the event of a problem
    • We regularly test and evaluate our security measures
    • Our employees are informed about the importance of protecting personal data

     

    1.7 Your rights

    You have the right to inspect, rectify or delete your personal data, or request that it not be processed by us or third parties. On request, we will send a copy of the data we hold to you or another party. We may ask you to provide proof of identity before we can respond to any such requests.

    If you have allowed us to process your personal data, you may revoke this consent at any time.

    We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy statement.

    If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, please contact us in the first instance. If we are unable to resolve the matter, you may submit the complaint to the Dutch data protection authority.
